What is an electrical certificate?
An electrical certificate, or Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR), is a fixed wiring electrical test carried out by an accredited electrical engineer.
From the 1st of June 2020, the government has placed a legal onus on all landlords to have an electrical installation condition report in place. They will have to be able to provide this to the tenant, managing agent or local authority within 30 days should they ask. The government have also laid down the law that all existing tenancies will require an EICR report by April 2021
Energy Safety will carry out your EICR’s and on completion of the test we will issue an electrical certificate of compliance.

What is a PAT test and what does it entail?
Portable appliance testing (PAT) is the term used to describe the examination of electrical appliances and equipment to ensure they are safe to use.
A PAT test is a routine inspection of your electrical appliances to check they are safe to use. Its purpose is to prevent electrical accidents.
A full PAT test should include both a visual inspection and a more in-depth check using specialist PAT testing equipment Most electrical safety defects can be found by visual examination but some types of defect can only be found by using specialist testing equipment.
At Energy Safety when we conduct an assessment on your portable electrical plugs we begin with a visual test. This involves looking for any visible signs of damage, deterioration, or unsafe use, such as worn-out wiring insulation or overloaded plug sockets. We then conduct a series of tests to check, for instance, that all wires are connected properly, that the arrangement of the plugs complies with regulations, and that the system is able to disconnect the power supply correctly if there is a fault.
We carry out Pat tests from single-room offices with 10-20 plugs to multi-storey hotels with 1000’s of plugs, in fact no job’s too big!
